The Oct. 25 raid on Occupy Oakland, which included an Oakland officer shooting and injuring Iraq War veteran Scott Olsen with a beanbag, generated more internal affairs complaints than any incident in city history, according to a report last month from City Administrator Deanna Santana. The department's effort to complete the Occupy complaint cases was hindered by the fact that several officers in internal affairs, including the unit's former leader, participated in the Oct 25th raid. ↘

Sit-in at Lakeview elementary raided, free classes continue, rally at 5pm
A sit-in at Oakland’s Lakeview Elementary School ended early this morning as police from the Oakland School Police force entered the school building, making two arrests.
The dispersal was calm by all accounts, although protesters say that officers threatened to use chemical weapons to disperse the crowd, which included young children. (more)

Occupy Austin Guerrilla Gardeners make one new public garden every week. Some have been destroyed the city, others remain and are sprouting vegetables. We have had run ins with park staff who are confounded by our activities and threaten us with police who never show up.
We do this to make people rethink notions of food, of where it comes from, of who produces it. We do this to make people rethink the use of space and the concept of property. We do this to make people rethink the concept of labor versus employment. We do this so you will do it to.

OPD is summoning witnesses via letter; What to do if you recieve one.
Attention J28 arrestees:
OPD has been sending people letters telling them that they may be a
witness to criminal activity and asking them to come in. It appears that
these letters are being sent to people who were arrested on January 28th
but there may be more we aren’t aware of.
It is our understanding that these letters are NOT legally binding
summons. As always, we strongly urge you to exercise your right to remain
silent, and to NOT speak with the police. This includes Internal Affairs
(IA). Anything you say to IA will go directly to the police who will be
indicting you or your comrades. Do not be fooled! If you believe you have
information about police misconduct, take it to the NLG. No one except
movement lawyers should be discussing _anything_ with any police agent.
If you receive one of these letters, please call the National Lawyers
Guild at 415-285-1011 (leave a message) and contact anti-repression at firstname.lastname@example.org
protect your community, dont talk to the cops, the fbi or dhs!
